How to pack my parcel

Proper package preparation is a good practice and a prerequisite for a successful transaction. During the packaging process, you should keep in mind that the item must be protected throughout the entire shipment, as it may pass through multiple handling points and automated sorting machines before reaching the recipient.

See below what you need to do so that your packages travel with complete safety.

Packaging selection

Make sure the box is both the right size for the item and strong enough to hold its weight. The item should fit comfortably inside it, while how heavy or fragile it is will also determine the quality of the box.

The two most common types of boxes are single-wall or reinforced.

Avoid using worn or damaged second-hand packaging. If reusing a box, ensure:

  • It has no previous labels, barcodes, or markings
  • It shows no signs of deformation or weakening

Commercial, gift or decorative packaging alone is NOT suitable for transportation. Always place it inside a proper transport box.

The outer packaging must be rectangular and suitable for mechanical handling and sorting.

The following are NOT accepted as outer packaging:

  • Fabric sacks
  • Plastic or nylon bags
  • Suitcases
  • Tubes
  • Non-rectangular packaging
All shipments must be placed inside a rectangular cardboard box.

🌍 Domestic and International shipments

IMPORTANT – For international shipments, packaging must be sturdier and more protective than for domestic deliveries.

Parcels travel long distances and pass through multiple handling points, hubs and automated sorting systems.

Our courier partners require that:

  • Reinforced cardboard boxes are used (preferably 5-layer corrugated for fragile items)
  • Packaging can withstand a vertical drop equivalent to 80 cm
  • Packaging supports 4-5 times the shipment weight
  • Polyethylene or plastic wrapping alone is NOT sufficient
  • Items are fully immobilized inside the box
  • “Fragile” labels do NOT replace proper packaging

Packaging that does not meet these standards may be considered insufficient and may result in compensation refusal.

*Minimum technical packaging standards apply to all shipments. Additional reinforcement is required for international deliveries.

Packing

Make sure the object is away from corners and protected with anti-vibration materials, such as:

  • Bubble wrap
  • Foam sheet
  • Packaging paper
  • Packing peanuts
  • Airbags
  • Corrugated cardboard

When shipping multiple items:

  • Each item must be individually wrapped
  • Items must not touch each other
  • The shipment must be packaged according to the most fragile item

Fill empty spaces with protective materials so that items do not move freely, without over-compressing the contents. Packaging should absorb shocks rather than transmit pressure directly to the item.

Items must not be placed in direct contact with the outer box walls.

No part of the item may stick out of the packaging. If necessary, use a larger box or reinforce the structure.

Separate parcels taped together as one shipment are not accepted. If sending multiple items, place everything inside one single outer cardboard box.

Special Category Requirements

Liquids

  • Must be in leak-proof, unbreakable containers
  • Containers must be individually wrapped
  • Additional water-resistant protection (foil/nylon) is required
  • Liquids must not be placed directly in cardboard envelopes
  • Leakage automatically qualifies as insufficient packaging

Glass, Ceramics & Fragile Items

  • Individually wrapped in multiple layers
  • Use thick bubble wrap
  • Use foam or rigid spacers
  • Must not touch outer packaging

Glass jars and wine bottles must be packaged in specialized reinforced boxes designed for their safe transport. Quantity limitations may apply depending on courier requirements.

Electronics & Equipment

  • Use original factory packaging whenever possible
  • If not available, use reinforced outer carton with internal supports matching the shape of the item

Musical Instruments (e.g. guitars)

Guitars and similar instruments must be placed inside a hard case or protective instrument case before being packed in a reinforced outer box. The instrument must be fully immobilized to prevent movement and neck damage during transport.

Documents

Documents must be shipped in hard cardboard envelopes or small cardboard boxes suitable for mechanical transport.

Box closure

Use strong security tape to seal the package.

Seal using H-shape taping:

  • All edges reinforced
  • All openings fully closed
  • No access to the interior
  • No rattling when shaken lightly

Don’t forget to take some photos or videos during the packaging process. Read more information in the Parcel Shipping Process.

Do not use ropes or straps externally, as they may be cut during sorting. Use only strong adhesive tape for reinforcement.

Packaging tape must not detach during transport. If tape unsticks and content becomes accessible, packaging is considered insufficient.

What is considered insufficient packaging

Packaging is considered inadequate when:

  • It fails 80 cm vertical drop equivalence
  • Liquids leak from containers
  • Outer packaging tears due to improper sizing
  • Box is too large or too small causing deformation
  • Packaging cannot support 4–5 times the parcel weight
  • Only nylon, fabric or polyethylene wrapping is used
  • Fragile items are sent in inappropriate inner packaging
  • The shipment allows free movement of contents
  • The outer packaging is damaged or deformed

Label – Tracking code

Make sure the label is placed on the top of the package.

  • Do not place the label on edges or corners
  • Remove all previous labels and barcodes
  • Ensure the label remains fully readable and flat

Important

If the package is not properly packaged and damaged during transit, the courier company may refuse compensation.

Packaging must be appropriate for the nature, weight and fragility of the item and suitable for mechanical handling throughout the entire transport cycle.

It is extremely important to ensure that the packaging is secure to avoid any problems.
