You must first check whether your business is registered for intra-community transactions (VIES system – check here ). If it does not appear in the VIES register , you cannot officially carry out cross-border transactions within the EU. To gain this right, you must change your business’s VAT registration to include intra-community transactions .
How to do it:
- Submit a request to the Greek Tax Authority (DOY) to register your business for intra-community transactions .
- This means that you must modify the VAT form ( Registration – D2 ) to activate the option for intra-Community supplies/acquisitions.
- This will add your business to the VIES register , allowing you to trade within the EU and issue correct invoices for cross-border transactions.
