Sending a parcel with Austrian Post

Austrian Post provides tracked delivery for eligible Vendora orders sent from Austria to buyers in Austria and supported international destinations. Buyers can choose this delivery method at checkout when it is available for the order.

Buyer instructions

When a seller has Austrian Post enabled, buyers can choose it as the delivery method during checkout.

If Austrian Post is not available at checkout, the buyer can contact the seller through chat and ask them to enable it:

•    from the Sell your item page,

•    from the Edit your ad page, or

•    by sending a payment request with Austrian Post enabled.

Austrian Post sends delivery or collection updates through tracking, email or the Post app. You can also follow the order in Vendora.

Once the transaction is accepted, the seller receives the shipping instructions and prepares the parcel.

Seller instructions

After the buyer completes payment, the seller is notified to proceed with shipping.

From the transaction page, select Instructions & Shipping and follow the steps shown there.

•    Use only the shipping label generated by Vendora for that order. Print and attach the label.

•    Remove or fully cover old labels and barcodes. Do not change the delivery address or add a second transport label.

•    Drop off the parcel at the Austrian Post branch or posting station shown in the order instructions.

•    After Austrian Post records the first physical scan, tracking becomes active and Vendora updates the order automatically. No manual shipping-status update is needed.

What to do if your shipment wasn’t accepted at the parcel shop

Sometimes, the Post AT does not recognize our label or cannot scan it.

We have created a guide for this, with which nothing should go wrong:

  • Parcel must necessarily be dropped off at the counter.
  • The customer must make it clear that it is a “Großkundenannahme”.
  • If the barcode is not immediately readable; then please advise the staff that this process may take 45 to 60 seconds.
  • If it still does not work, please test the delivery again in another service point.

Package limits & dimensions

Each shipment may contain one parcel with:

•    Maximum weight: 20 kg.

•    Maximum dimensions: 100 × 60 × 60 cm.

•    The parcel must be stable, cuboid and suitable for automated sorting.

Measure and weigh the parcel after all protective packaging has been added.

Delivery details & important notes

Delivery is to the buyer’s address or an Austrian Post location, depending on the service selected at checkout. The estimated delivery date appears in tracking. Collection parcels must be collected before the deadline in the courier notification.

•    After the first Austrian Post scan, Vendora updates the shipping status automatically.

•    If a delivery attempt is unsuccessful, follow the instructions and collection deadline shown in the courier tracking or notification.

Packaging responsibility

The seller is responsible for packaging the shipment. Proper packaging is essential to protect the parcel during transport, and inadequate packaging can affect a damage claim.

•    Use a rigid, undamaged outer box suitable for the item’s weight.

•    Wrap items separately, protect corners and fragile parts, and fill empty space so the contents cannot move.

•    Seal every opening and seam with strong parcel tape. A Fragile label does not replace protective packaging.

•    Remove or fully cover old labels and barcodes.

•    Place the Vendora shipping label flat on the largest side without covering a seam or folding it around an edge.

Tracking your parcel

Both buyers and sellers can follow the shipment from Profile → Transactions → Order details.

The parcel can also be tracked on the official Austrian Post tracking page: https://www.post.at/en/s/track-and-trace-search

Tracking may remain at “label created” until Austrian Post records the first physical scan.

Damaged or lost shipments

First, report the problem through Profile → Transactions → Order details. For damage or missing contents, the buyer must report it before approving the order and within 48 hours of delivery.

Damage: contact Vendora within 2 days of delivery. Send proof of value and photos of the outer packaging, inner packaging, damaged item and shipping label. Loss, delay or delivered-but-not-received: contact Vendora immediately with tracking details, proof of drop-off, proof of value and, where applicable, a signed non-receipt declaration.

Maximum compensation: up to €510 for loss or damage, subject to Austrian Post’s service terms and proof of value.

For Vendora’s general evidence and transport-damage process, see the Return Policy.

Prohibited items

Do not send illegal goods, explosives, ammunition, weapons, radioactive, toxic, corrosive or other dangerous substances, narcotics, cash or prohibited valuables, live animals, human remains, or uncontrolled perishables. Where lithium batteries are permitted, lithium-ion batteries must not exceed 100 Wh and lithium-metal batteries 2 g lithium content; no more than four cells or two batteries may be included, and they must be protected and packed under the applicable rules.

This list is not exhaustive. The item must also comply with Vendora’s rules, the carrier’s current terms, and the laws of the origin and destination countries. If an item needs a special dangerous-goods, temperature-controlled, age-verified, insured or customs service, it cannot be sent with a standard Vendora label.
